I'm fairly new to quilting. One thing I have learned is if the quilt or throw is going to be really used (which why shouldn't it) it should be bound with bias binding. The number of threads per inch is way more than straight fabric which will make the binding stronger and last longer. I'm using the black and white stripe binding for a multi-colored baby quilt I am making. The B&W will really pop against all the colors. And, the quilt can be laundered over and over so it can be used!
